“Massage & Mimosas” Memorial Day Weekend in Phoenix, AZ

Updated: Jul 1, 2019

So, I spent the weekend indulging in a “Massage & Mimosa” Memorial Day Weekend! Yes, I actually jumped on an airplane to spend the weekend eating, drinking, having massages and endless mimosas during the long holiday weekend!!!

My travel partner and I arrived in Phoenix in the early afternoon… which was just enough time to check in and head out to see what the area had to offer us. I would like to start off by saying The Camby Hotel, a Marriott Autograph Collection, is a beautiful hotel situated in a pretty cool location of Phoenix. Once the Ritz-Carlton, The Camby did not disappoint with similar luxuries and comfort. The beautiful décor of bright cooper furnishings & fixtures, accented with midnight blue, greets The Camby's guests upon arrival... I must say, the hotel's vibe is very hip and stylish... And with the Marriott Bonvoy's mobile key app, there’s no need to check in at the front desk, which we took full advantage of… We walked directly to our room, overlooking the 24/7 pool, and prepared ourselves for a nice long relaxing weekend!

Some cool things to note about rooms at The Camby: The standard rooms are a great size for 2-4 guests and they include a refrigerator, a Keurig coffee machine, and full-sized mirrors throughout the room (such a BONUS when getting ready to hit the town). Cute little notes include: a cow on the wall, which shines a light that says, “MOO”, and the copper ceiling, which reads, “Good News. It’s almost time to drink coffee again.” and “Everything’s looking up.” Sometimes you need that extra motivation in the morning... ya know?

Now if shopping is your thing, then you are in luck… The Camby is located right across the street from the Biltmore Fashion Park, a premier outdoor shopping center with some high-end retail stores and restaurants. For lunch we stopped by Zinburger to get a bite to eat, as we also needed a little "drinkie-drink" to get the weekend started! If you eat at Zinburger, you should "of course" treat yourself to their namesake… The Zinburger! A hamburger made with Manchego cheese, Zinfandel-braised onions, lettuce and mayo nestled in a yummy bun. I didn't stop at just the Zinburger... I also ordered zuchini fries which were amazing and a “Long Tall Lemonade” cocktail, made with pressed blackberries, Vodka, lemon, and Elderflower… Talk about REFRESHING!

Day two in Phoenix started off with a breakfast at the Artizen restaurant located inside The Camby. The food was absolutely delicious… especially their maple chicken sausage… OMG!

After breakfast, we headed off to have our “Massages & Mimosas” day at the Red Door Salon & Spa by Elizabeth Arden. We were lucky enough to squeeze into two of their early morning spots... and they allowed us to bring our own juices and champagne for the mimosas (they will provide the ice bucket and stemware if you bring the drinks).

Now it was time to begin our journey of RELAXATION!

S0, initially I thought I wanted a massage, however the “Antioxidant Boost” Body Treatment began calling my name so that is what I opted for! Now, where do I even begin on how AMAZING this treatment is?

First, the skin is prepped with an olive oil and salt scrub... I mean salt is rubbed all over!!!! After the intense rubdown that felt like all my cares were scrubbed away, the red carpet was laid out for my shower time. I swear, that was the best 3-minute shower of my life. Once I was done rinsing off, I was asked to lay on a bed of plastic wrap, where a mixture of jojoba oil, lemon peel and peppermint essential oils were applied. After this rubdown, I was wrapped up in a human-cocoon to marinate for 10-15 minutes. During this part of the session, you have a choice of receiving a foot or a head massage. I opted for the paws to be rubbed.... I can rub my own head, but there’s nothing like a good ole foot massage!

Once I emerged from my human-cocoon, the session was finished with a silky-smooth finisher and a light body massage… And just like that, the whole therapeutic experience was over. Unfortunately, I was back to reality and it was time to get up and get out (womp, womp)! The saving grace for my sanity was knowing that the mimosas were sitting right outside waiting for me in the relaxation room!!!

I won’t lie, the Red Door Spa was pretty pricey (not the most expensive body treatment I've ever had, but it's pretty close). However, I can say without a doubt, the treatment was worth every single penny and I would do it again in a heartbeat (side note: if you live in an area that has the Red Door Spa, they do offer a $99 a month membership, which is an excellent price compared to their one-time treatment prices). Take my word for it!

After a pampered morning of massages and mimosas, it was time to head back over to the The Camby and relax by their pool located on 2nd floor rooftop. The outside area where the pool is located has games, a poolside bar, which serves food and drinks, and cabanas that can be rented for the day. The cool thing is, if you snag a chair by the pool and pull up an umbrella, there is no need to rent the cabanas....! #WINNING However, if you do decide to rent a cabana, it does come with drinks and snacks for your party!

Another note to mention... when staying at The Camby, make sure to walk over to The Capital Grille, where you can grab a STOLI DOLI, The Capital Grille’s Signature Martini, made with Stolichnaya Vodka infused with fresh pineapple, chilled and served straight up since 1990, or catch dinner and a movie at the Dine-In AMC movie theater located across the walkway. Unfortunately, we did not get to see a movie since it was Memorial Day weekend and many of the movies we wanted to see were SOLD OUT! However, we did manage to snag a FREE large popcorn with hot butter to bring back to the room and have our own movie party!

My “Massage and Mimosas” Memorial Day Weekend was one of the most relaxing and chilled mini-vacays I’ve had in a really long time. All I have to say is, do not sleep on Phoenix and all that it has to offer. Although we opted for a short girl’s weekend getaway, the Phoenix area can easily be a solo trip, a girl’s or guy's getaway, or a bae-cation for you and your sweetheart…. Just get out there and have a FABULOUS time!

Thank you Phoenix… You did not disappoint!!
