Fabness Escapes First Curated Group Trip - Morocco
In November 2019, Fabness Escapes hosted its very first curated group trip... We traveled to the beautiful country of Morocco with 14 guests. Our group consisted of guests from Chicago and Los Angeles, which met in Portugal before beginning our journey to Morocco.
On the first night, Fabness Escapes hosted a fabulous "Meet & Greet" dinner in the heart of Casablanca before heading on our 11-day journey.
The journey through Morocco took us from Casablanca, to the mountains, to glamping in the Sahara desert, to the city of Marrakech. Casablanca, which is now Morocco's largest city and commercial capital, and Africa's fourth largest port is where we visited the gorgeous mosque of Hassan II, the largest religious monument in the Muslim world outside of Mecca.
We went on to visit Rabat, Morocco’s capital, which included a visit to Oudaia Kasbah, the Mausoleum of Mohamed V and the Hassan Tower, and the oldest part of the city, Chellah Necropolis, which dates back from the time of Almohads. This location also hosts many ruins of the Roman Empire.
Meknes was the next stop on our tour, which hosts Bab Mansour, one of the finest ornamented gates in Morocco, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, the resting place of one of the most prolific builders of Meknes. The group also visited Haras de Meknes (a huge stable complex), and Habs Qara (the underground cells which were allegedly used to house the sultan’s army of slaves).
The city of Fes was such an awesome treat. The city is very much as it was when it was built in the 8th century, with high walls that defend the courtyards inside from the heat of the midday sun. Here, we took a guided walking tour with our host to some of the more notable sites, such as Place an-Nejjarine, merchant shops, and tanneries where leather is stained in an array of colored dyes.
Chefchaouen (The Blue City), was amazing to see in person. With its distinctive pale blue and whitewashed buildings, and its winding alleyways, Chefchaouen is a charming place with strong Andalusian connections. It was here that many Jews and Moors fled to escape during the Spanish Inquisition.
We passed through the Middle Atlas Mountains, the hills of Azrou, and the scenic Ziz valley, before arriving at the great "sand sea" of Merzouga, a beautiful area of fine apricot-colored sand that stretches as far as the eye can see. Here, the group retreated to the luxuries of our exclusive private desert camp. In the evening we had campfire entertainment beneath the starry African sky, and in the morning we took a camel ride through the desert where our Berber hosts made us a pot of fresh mint tea. The rest of the time in the desert was spent relaxing, playing games, sand boarding, and taking hundreds of memorable photos.
After departing the desert, we traveled through the Gorge of Todra, considered one of the most dramatic sights to see in Morocco. The gorge was carved out by the Todra river, which formed cliff-sided canyons. In the evening the group stayed in the beautiful location of Dades Gorge, located in the middle of the High Atlas Mountains.
As the group headed into Marrakech, they received a huge surprise when the beautiful estate of Jnane Tamsna was the first stop. According to Essence Magazine, Jnane Tamsna is the only black female owned boutique hotel in Morocco. As a hotelier, Merryanne Loum-Martin’s clientele has included the likes of movie stars Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise, and designers Giorgio Armani and Donna Karen.
The Jnane Tamsna estate itself is a wonderful blend of Meryanne Loum-Martin designs with her husband Gary Martin's gorgeous nine-acre garden. The estate is made up of 5 houses, 5 pools, 24 individual rooms, a private villa and a tennis court.
Although Meryanne was hosting the Royse event during our visit, Gary and their children hosted our party of 14. They gave us a tour of their two stores and the grounds, and let us taste their fresh homemade ice creams, honeys and other items from the store. The Martin family were wonderful and gracious hosts, and Fabness Escapes cannot wait to visit again and stay longer at this beautiful location.

To end our stay in Morocco, our group enjoyed a Josephine Baker inspired 1920's themed-party at the Riad Star in Marrakech. Riad Star was formerly the Marrakech home of Jazz Age superstar Josephine Baker. Now an intimate boutique hotel with thirteen guest rooms.

First Annual Strategic Planning Meeting
At the end of 2019, the Fabness Escapes team met up in Denver, Colorado to go over our 2020 Strategic Planning, however, it turned into a 2-Day "Funcation." We stayed at the hip Element Denver Downtown East and explored some of Denver's highlights, including the Denver Botanic Gardens...
Well, I guess the universe was telling us not to be too serious with planning anything for 2020 because the 'Rona would be taking over in the new few months.... Ugggh! When life gives you lemons... Make some FABULOUS Lemonade!
Side note: When in Denver, do yourself a favor and check out the Rose & Thorn in downtown. The food and drinks are amazing and the servers are super friendly. They also have a cute little speakeasy downstairs to chill and have drinks after a long day!

Living My Best Life - A Ladies Retreat (Palms Springs, California)
Nine ladies celebrated Fabness Escpape's very first ladies retreat in sunny Palm Springs. The ladies came from Atlanta, Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and the surrounding areas, and San Antonio, and spent four fabulous days embracing, motivating and inspiring one another.

Day One - Meet & Greet
On the first evening, the ladies had an intimate session with Dr. Lysa Liggins. The session included dynamic and candid conversations as the ladies learned about human behavior and personality traits, which drives how people engage with one another. This exercise uncovered why we are more tolerant with some people than we are with others.
Day Two - Getting to Know Me
On the second day, the ladies woke up to an amazing breakfast before relaxing most of the morning. In the afternoon, the ladies created their 2020 Vision Board focusing on love, health, relationships, family, and personal goals... and ended the evening with a delicious Taco Bar party.
Day Three - Pamper Me Day
Day three began with a morning session of yoga, and a delicious Sunday Brunch. In the afternoon, the ladies discussed their 2020 Vision Boards before being pampered with facials by "Natures Rehab." The evening ended with a talent show where one set of ladies hyped the crowd with a performance of "Poison" by Bell Biv Devoe, while the other set of ladies strutted their stuff to a performance of "Giving Him Something He Can Feel" by En Vogue. The evening ended with a Pajama Party game night and talk session.
Day Four - Living My Best Life/ Goodbyes
On the last day in Palm Springs, the ladies wrote each other inspirational cards during breakfast and was presented with "Sisterhood Knot" bracelets as a token to commemorate the weekend, and the bond that was fostered over the four days.
The entire weekend was amazing, and Fabness Escapes cannot wait to begin planning and hosting its next retreat! Where will it be???
